For the Condominium Grand project the client needed pantry storage space for the kitchen and office storage for files and books and a desk/workstation to pay bills, do homework and work from home. We designed a modern take on secretary’s desk, and custom fabricated the slides and bearing pivots allowing the desk to completely disappear and allow an easier access through this small apartment. The resulting remodel completely transformed the space and opened it up dramatically.
The clients family heirloom drop-front secretary desk served as inspiration for the new convertible workstation. The original piece, though beautiful in its own right, exhibits a common problem with free-standing furniture in small spaces: very inefficient and quickly reduce the size of the room. As this two bedroom condominium unit is less than 500 sq ft. we choose to integrate built-in pieces wherever possible.
